Ensuring that patients on cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) receive optimal blood flow during the entire surgical procedure is an essential goal of the cardiac surgery team. Historically, CPB flows have been largely based on the experience of the perfusionist and a common formula based on the BSA (body surface area) of the patient multiplied by the CI (cardiac index).
Nevertheless, this is not enough to ensure the satisfactory delivery of oxygen (DO2) to the patient’s tissues and prevent potential post operative complications such as AKI (Acute Kidney Injury). That’s where the need of a careful and frequent monitoring of crucial patient’s parameters and the application of GDP (Goal-Directed Perfusion) come into play.
Eurosets offers the impressive and state-of-the-art solution to monitor both CPB and ECMO procedures: thanks to a non-invasive technology, our monitoring system can acquire important parameters to optimize the ECC during cardiac surgery and to monitor the interaction between native lung (NL) and mechanical lung (ML) in ECMO treatments.
