Ortho P.A.S.

The solution in Orthopaedic Post-Operative blood autotransfusion

When transferring the blood collected from the reservoir to the reinfusion bag, most “no wash devices” allow everything to be transferred (blood shed, FPH, lipids, etc.); others devices are equipped with supernatant separators which ensure that a fixed volume (i.e. 50ml) remains in the reservoir, keeping:

  • The entire lipid layer (in the reservoir);
  • A portion of the supernatant layer (in the reservoir).

The blood is reinfused through the 40 μm GOCCIA filter (microaggregate removal > 40 μm: 95%3) in order to minimize risk to the patient (such as pulmonary microembolism caused by circulating microaggregates).

Orthopas

ORTHO P.A.S. , that can automatically remove the entire supernatant3 layer, eliminating the majority of harmful substances, thus reducing the likelihood of transfusion reaction.

  • The recovered and subsequently reinfused blood remains completely sterile (no contact with non-sterile external air).
  • Complete operator protection maintaining of blood sterility if the device overturns or falls.
  • Protection from the recovered blood contaminating the environment.
  • Reinfusion can also be done during the recovery phase.
  • The closed circuit prevents bacterial contamination.
  • Multiple closed circuit reinfusions can be done at the same time.
  • Variable supernatant and lipid layers are automatically held in the reservoir.
  • Protection of multi-use components (suction pump) thanks to the hydrophobic sterilizing filter.
  • Prevents the spread of infective and immunological complications (closed circuit system).
  • The blood is made immediately available for reinfusion.
  • Eliminates the majority of harmful substances.
